Citizen Charter
Local Government Engineering Department(LGED of Local Government Division under Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development & Co-operatives is giving technical assistance to the local government institutions, local development and development of the rural and urban infrastructure including development of small water resources, has contributed immensely to the development of the country's socio-economic conditions and employment opportunities. There was a time when the rural areas of communication were very delicate in Bangladesh. Today, through extensive development programs through LGED, a revolutionary change has been made in rural all over the country. Farmers are getting fair price of their products by increasing marketing facilities and transport facilities. LGED also plays important role in implementing Government’s different program  for Environmental balancing and. LGED is implementing various projects and programs with the help of Bangladesh government's own resources and development partner organizations.

 
Citizen Charter is a publicity letter written on the rights of public service.
Through this, reflecting the aspiration of the public, the development of existing services has developed. Through Citizen Charter, it ensures providing timely service to the service Receivers. The transparency, accountability of the service providers and the growth of the administration increased. Through the Citizen's Charter, interaction between Service providers and Service Receivers increases.

 
Major Responsibilities of LGED
• Planning, implementing and monitoring plans for infrastructure development in rural and urban areas;
• Maintenance of rural infrastructure;
• Planning, implementation and monitoring of Growthcenter / Hathbazar development;
• Providing technical assistance to union, upazila, zila parishad and municipality;
• Prepare a database of planbooks, mapping of roads and social infrastructure for union, upazila and municipality;
• Planning, implementing and monitoring small water resource development;
• Implementation and monitoring of infrastructure development programs of various ministries;
• Training in relevant development activities of representatives of the public, beneficiary, contractor, contract workers;
• Formulation of design and other technical models, manual and specification;
• Increasing efficiency through training of LGED officials / staff;

Administration level of LGED:

 
In order to manage the extensive activities of LGED, the administrative network covers the following ways

 
§ LGED's chief engineer is acting as the official head of the LGED office in Agargaon, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka-1207. Besides, there are 04 additional Chief Engineers, 07 Superintending Engineers, 17 Executive Engineers, and 146 officers and workers working in different units at the headquarters. The activities of LGED in the headquarters are completed by the following Units:

§ LGED's activities are spread across 10 regions across the country, such as Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna, Rajshahi, Barisal, Sylhet, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Comilla and Faridpur. Each zone is in charge of a Superintending Engineer. There are 8 officers, including the Executive Engineer and Assistant Engineer, under the supervision of Superintending Engineers in every region - who supervise and supervise the activities of LGED including the entrusted administrative responsibility of the districts.

 
§ A total of 13 officers / employees, including two assistant engineers led by Executive Engineer in every district headquarters of 64 districts, are operating in all LGED's districts. Moreover, there are 1 mechanical engineer in greater district;

 
§ Under the leadership of Upazila Engineer in each of 482 upazilas, a total of 19 officers / employees, including Assistant Upazila Engineers, cooperate with the Engineer of the project and supervisor of LGED, including the development work and maintenance activities of Upazila Parishad.
